Did you know March is National Craft Month?? Me either! That is, up until a few weeks ago when Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts asked me to participate in their spring trends craft challenge! Jo-Ann is making spring crafting easy during National Craft Month with a $5 off $25 or more purchase coupon, and a spring crafting inspirational website!
So, what are the hot craft trends this spring?
Anchor Wall Paper (using vinyl decals)
I have been racking my brain with what to do about these large, floor to ceiling (read life threatening/ person crushing) stark white closet doors in Andrew's room.
We are renting, so paint wasn't a good choice for me. I wanted something that would add interest, maybe color, and most importantly, be non permanent.
- 5 sheets 12x24 black vinyl
- Clever Nest's Anchor Silhouette Studio file (download here)
- Silhouette Cameo
If you love this project but don't own a Cameo, here a a few options to consider-
Option 1: Sweet talk a friend who has a Cameo into letting you use theirs!
Option 2: Create a stencil by tracing the anchor shape onto hard plastic (like I did here)
and use craft paint to make an anchor pattern.
Option 3: Purchase already cut shapes like this one and Mod Podge them on.
Option 4: Hand cut vinyl anchors (although this method might drive you batty!)
I grabbed 6 of these sheets of black adhesive vinyl from Jo-Ann (turns out I only used 4 1/2 sheets). Normally they're $2.99 each, but armed with my coupons I paid just over $15 for all of them.
I marked a grid on each door to mark where each anchor would go. I liked this spacing that formed a diamond pattern, about 16 inches from top to bottom, and 14 inches from side to side.
Here's the final product. I love my new anchor wall!
He is 5 days old, and has stolen our hearts! Praise God, we are both doing great, (I'm feeling up to blogging again, and mostly surviving the sleep deprivation) and he is super healthy. He opened his eyes for a few seconds, and was really interested in the black and white contrasting pattern. Then he promptly went back to sleep :)
I'm glad our nursery got this spiffy update before Mr. Evan arrived. A new adventure begins!:)
This review is part of the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores National Craft Month campaign. I received compensation for my review; however, this is my personal, real, and honest opinion of my experience. :)
