Upcycled Fringe Necklace from Undies!

Click here for a special Update to this post!

If you know me, you know I love a killer necklace. And it's even better if it's made from something recycled. I came up with this design for a statement necklace last night, and wanted to share it with you!

As wife, it's my job to make sure my hubby's undies are in good repair. When it's time to take a pair out of rotation, I find myself wishing I could reuse them for a craft.

This idea hit me, and now there's no need to trash them! Try this simple upcycle to make for a fabulous statement necklace! It literally takes all of 5 minutes.

Here's the supplies you'll need and some handy hints to get the job done.

Supplies:

  • 1 pair of men's undies, any size
  • Sharpie marker
  • Scissors

Step 1. Mark
I turned the undies over to use the rear end. This side has no seams and there's more surface area to work with.

Step 2. Cut
I cut out a "V" on the back flap, then trimmed along the elastic waist band. It's important not to cut the waist band, because this part will go around your neck.

Step 3. Snip
Almost done! Just a few snips to make the fringe, and we're done!

There you have it! So simple, yet such a great impact. This is a great piece to dress up a casual t shirt and jeans, or a fun way to style a fancy dress for a date night!

I wore this outfit yesterday and was surprised how many comments I got on it! You should have seen the look on people's faces when I told them what I made it from!

Oh yeah, and what it's made from is our little secret. :) What's your favorite way to dress up an outfit?
