NEWS BULLETIN: Next month is my One Year Blogversary! yay! Make sure to come by and party with me, and get in on super sweet giveaways all month long!!
I love the 99 Cent store. I really love the 99 Cent store. When I need to fill up a space on the cheap, it's the place to go!
Here's a simple project I did for our bedroom, for about $8.
Dollar store frames + Vacay pics= cheap gallery wall!
I've been working on our bedroom lately (update pics at the end of this post).
I had 5x7 pictures printed of some of our favorite vacation spots, like Santa Monica and Laguna Beach. I'm hoping somehow they will infuse a relaxing aura and trick my brain into thinking I'm actually still on vacation. Wishful?
Master bedroom Update
I rounded up all the dirty laundry and piles of tissues (we all had the flu last week, bleh). Let's swing around and see how the rest of the room is coming.
Compared to our previous house, our room now has a pretty different look. Remember this just a few months ago? Pre Craigslisting the bedroom set.
Here's where it's at now:

Still a ways to go, but getting there, right? Here's what's new.
Two new matching dark wood end tables from Macy's furniture outlet for $99 each. Woo hoo! Love those pulls :)
A tall dresser from Mathis Brothers, clearance section. And was $360. I love it's lines, and how it grooves with the end tables without being matchy matchy.
If you piece together a bedroom set, the rule of thumb is to keep all pieces within 3 shades. Personally I'm a fan of more of a collected look. But if a matched set is your thing, I'm behind you!

So happy to get these 3 pieces for under $600 total! The Midcentury modern look makes me happy too :)
This midcentury Starburst mirror is from the Martha Stewart line at Home Depot for $35!
Our DIY nailhead headboard still needs to be mounted on the wall. But the low profile is growing on us. What do you think, leave it as is or hang it up?
I'd like to add framed art above each night stand. Maybe a pop of aqua?Still trying to figure out what to do with our wall of mirrors, yikes! No hiding unflattering angles in this room, if you know what I mean... *cough.
We rent, so no swapping doors... but, decals? curtains in front? thoughts??
Our sink area got a flower arrangement from Michael's this week too.
My, my don't we look fancy now? All faux flowers and all?
I felt a bit "wild" by picking some hot pink blooms. A bit of a risk, but I think it works pretty well!
I'd also like to get something more substantial framed on the wall over there above the towel rack.
Doing any updates lately? Got any 99 Cent store decor projects to share? I'd love to see them! Send me a link in a comment :D

Your comment about "unflattering angles" in the mirrors made me laugh out loud. I would definitely put curtains up. I mean, a full length mirror is nice and all, but...a whole wall/closet? I love your headboard (I'll have to check out that post:)) so I would for sure hang it up high again. Great improvements!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison!! Yeah, it's a lot of merciless reflections, haha.
